Craft Made Kitchen began as a quarantine project for me, a food photographer stuck at home away from his studio. I struggled to find the right identity, and began by putting twists on other peoples ideas. Not the most ground breaking work… But I started to realize that there was no inspiration in that for me. So I’ve switched gears to follow my identity as a Texas outdoorsman. Exploring recipes with wild game, local produce, and family traditions. There’s no culinary journey that could speak more directly to who I am, than one that involves hunting, fishing, growing my own food, and experimenting with new methods and techniques of preparing those ingredients. I’m a country boy at heart, with some big city influence, and a hunger for new experiences. I hope you follow along, and engage in this journey with me.
I believe that a home cooked meal has the power to heal the soul, bring people together, and connect us to the world around us.
About Josh
Hello and welcome! Wether you’ve purposely sought out this site, or followed the rabbit down the hole that is today’s internet, I’m glad you’re here, and hope you stick around!
My name is Josh Blaylock, and let me start by saying, I am not a chef. First, and most importantly, I’m a dad and a husband. I’m also an avid outdoorsman, a Dallas based commercial food and beverage photographer / director, and an all around lover of food. I love my job, and feel extremely blessed to be able to make my living in the food and drink industry, capturing images for some amazing clients. If you want to know more about that, you can see my commercial portfolio here: http://www.blaylockphotography.com.
But lets just assume you’re not interested in hearing about my client list or any other type of self promotion, and find yourself reading this because, like me, you’re here for the food.
The truth is that I’m not here because I think I have some profound point of view, I only hope that this blog can bring you some joy and perhaps a bit of inspiration as I fumble my way through my own journey with food. So why did I create this blog? The simple answer is that while I thoroughly enjoy what I do for a living, I don’t often have the chance to be hands on with recipes and creating the dishes. This blog is my own experiment. A creative outlet for my personal taste and ideas. I’ll share recipes, tutorials, experiments, and even a few failures.
So if this sounds like a journey you’d like to join me on, then welcome aboard! Subscribe to the email list so you can be sure not to miss anything, and please let me know your feedback through the comments and reviews. Thanks for being here. Let’s Eat!
