I’m thrilled to have you here joining me on this journey through my world of food.
I am not a food blogger! At least, that’s what I’d like to think. Starting a blog is something I’ve toyed with for quite a while. It’s constantly been in the back of my mind. I think my hesitation has been a result of the stigma that goes along with the title of “BLOGGER”. That word calls to mind images of a certain demographic, that seems to get off on feeling important and having their image praised. So for my own sanity, let’s just set the record straight. I am not a chef. I don’t think my opinion is any more important than yours, and I certainly am not here to tell you the way I cook or take photographs is any better than someone else. I’m simply creating this space as an outlet / home base for all my ramblings, experiments, and creative overflow that doesn’t have a home on my sets in the studio. So let’s talk about what you can expect to see here.
Recipes. I love cooking, and am inspired by unique flavor combinations, and outside the box ideas. I also find such a feeling of pride and accomplishment when I tackle something I’ve never made before. So I’ll be sharing my experiments, successes and fails, along with collaborations with others. I’ll also be sharing some of the basics, and the way I do them. One thing I can promise is that I will never post a recipe that hasn’t been tested and taste approved.
Tutorials. I’ve actually had quite a few people ask me to create a few tutorials on photography techniques, and and give a look behind the scenes here at the studio. I learned predominantly through assisting, and constant online research and experimentation, and the thought of being able to share in other people’s journey is truly exciting. I’ll cover some of the basics, along with a few of the tricks I’ve learned through my career. Covering topics such as lighting, composition, prop selection, surfaces etc.. Hopefully you can take something and apply it to your own work, or find something I could do better, and set me straight.
Blogging. There it is. The word that sends a cold chill down my spine. But the truth is, I do enjoy putting my thoughts down on paper (or screen), and I enjoy sharing those thoughts with others. If that makes me a blogger, than so be it. Plus if I don’t do this, I believe I’ll always feel like I’ve let myself down, and taken the easy way out. Topics I cover may range from restaurant experiences, food related ideas I’ve discovered that inspired me, inside looks into my world as a photographer / director, as already mentioned recipes and tutorials, and generally anything else that seems worthy of writing down. I’ll do my best to keep from treating this as my personal journal, and stay focused on intriguing subjects connected to the anchoring theme of food.
